Caustic soda attacks stainless steel over time. Even 316L develops stress corrosion cracking in hot sodium hydroxide. A PTFE Teflon spool isolates the flow sensor from the metal pipe. Installation Notes for Corrosive Chemical Lines

For sodium hypochlorite dosing, install the meter at the discharge side of the dosing pump. Use a back pressure valve if the line ends in an open tank. This keeps the sensor full and stable.
